Explore the research helping inform United Way Regina’s next chapter.

Grade 3 is an important milestone because children are increasingly using reading to learn across subjects. When reading is difficult at this stage, it can affect confidence, learning and future opportunities.

United Way Regina’s Early Years Literacy Landscape Research provides a local, data-informed look at children’s reading in Regina and some of the factors that can shape their success. The research explores:

• where progress is being made and where gaps remain;
• barriers facing children and families in Regina;
• opportunities to strengthen outcomes for children; and
• how organizations across the community can contribute.
  
  

The findings have helped deepen UWR’s understanding of early literacy in Regina and are helping inform its sharpened focus on reading.
