
United Way Regina is seeking passionate and community-minded individuals with the right combination of technical skills, leadership
experience and, most importantly, time to join our Board of Directors.
This is an opportunity to help guide our work, support transformative change, and make a lasting impact for future generations.
We are looking for individuals with diverse skills, perspectives, and experiences who are eager to contribute to United Way Regina’s
mission of improving lives and building a stronger, more equitable community.
Expressions of Interest will be accepted until April 4th, 2025.
What qualifications and experience is the United Way Regina looking for?
- At least five years of board experience or an equivalent level of professional experience, such as holding an Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD) designation is considered an asset but not required.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships.
- Critical thinking and strategic decision-making capabilities.
- Comfort in engaging in open, honest dialogue while respecting diverse perspectives and experiences.
- Reflect the diversity of the communities we serve and are committed to advancing equity and inclusion.
What skills sets are required?
In addition, we are currently seeking individuals with specific skills in the following areas:
- Advanced financial acumen, demonstrated through designations such as FCPA, CPA, or CFA.
- Legal expertise in areas such as Employment Law, Not-for-Profit Law, Taxation, or Privacy Law.
- IT leadership experience, particularly in oversight roles adhering to recognized standards such as the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and ISO/IEC 27000.
What is the time commitment that is required as a Board Member?
- Ability to participate in board meetings during regular business hours.
- Typically, there are 4 to 6 board meetings per year. Meetings are usually 2 hours in length and require an average of 2 additional hours in pre-reading or meeting prep time.
- May include participation on committees of the board which meet quarterly.
- Participate as needed in strategic planning and direction setting retreats that could be a full day in length.
As a board member, you’ll have the opportunity to:
- Play a key role in shaping United Way Regina’s vision and strategy.
- Work collaboratively with other committed community leaders.
- Contribute your expertise to initiatives that create meaningful change.
