Book Vending Machines: A New Chapter in Literacy
Every child deserves access to books that inspire, educate, and entertain. That’s why we’re excited to launch our Book Vending Machines, a groundbreaking initiative designed to promote literacy and foster a love of reading among children in our community.
What Are Book Vending Machines?
Our Book Vending Machines are specially designed kiosks that dispense new, high-quality books to children, free of charge. Placed in accessible locations like community centers, schools, and libraries, these machines provide instant access to a wide range of reading materials.
How It Works
Booking Vending Machines are placed within our focus schools and will vend books using a golden token system. Tokens are awarded to students for good behavior, logged reading time, and good attendance. This innovative reward system encourages students to engage in positive behaviors and rewards them with the joy of selecting a new book.
Why Book Vending Machines?
- Increased Access: By placing these machines in focus schools, we ensure that children from all backgrounds have easy access to books.
- Encouraging Reading: With a variety of genres and topics, children can choose books that spark their interests and foster a lifelong love of reading.
- Rewarding Engagement: The golden token system motivates students to engage in positive behaviors, making reading both a reward and a goal.
- Empowering Communities: This initiative supports United Way Regina’s mission to improve literacy and educational outcomes, helping to break the cycle of poverty and create opportunities for every child.
