Making a Difference

Thanks to your generous support, we’re investing every year in local communities in southern Saskatchewan.

Issue

United Way Regina is addressing educational disparities, by investing in programs that create lasting impact. These investments focus on preventing future challenges by supporting critical areas like early literacy, family stability, all aimed at fostering resilience and opportunity within the community.

Action

United Way Regina is committed to improving childhood success, and building strong, healthy communities. By leveraging local expertise, we invest strategically to maximize impact, ensuring children have the support to reach their full potential. By uniting nonprofits, government, corporate partners, and donors, we tackle complex problems collaboratively.

Our focus is on addressing root causes through sustainable strategies, ensuring that community investments not only provide immediate relief but also create long-term, systemic change.

Thanks to the generosity of our corporate and individual donors, United Way Regina  invested more than $2.8 million into our community through a variety of initiatives in 2023.

Building a Brighter Regina

United Way Regina is dedicated to creating a community where every individual can thrive. Thanks to your unwavering support, we’re able to drive initiatives that make a real difference—from boosting literacy for young learners to offering vital connections through 211 Saskatchewan. Every contribution you make helps transform lives and strengthen the bonds within our community.

Literacy for Life: Setting Up Children for Success

Early literacy is the foundation of lifelong success. Our programs aim to ensure every child reads proficiently by the end of third grade, unlocking a future of opportunities by removing barriers to reading.

Our Classroom Libraries strategy brings high-quality books and inviting reading spaces into classrooms, doubling reading time and inspiring a love for learning. The Attendance Matters Van promotes consistent school attendance, while tools like the Inchy Book Vending Machine reward students with free books, igniting excitement for reading. Programs like the Family Literacy Hub support at-home reading and strengthen family bonds around learning.

Our efforts extend beyond the school year with initiatives like Summer Success, which prevent learning loss over the break. By keeping kids engaged with hands-on activities and access to books, we help them maintain skills and confidence, fostering academic growth and brighter futures.

211 Saskatchewan: Connections to Essential Services

For many, finding the right help can be a complex and overwhelming journey. 211 Saskatchewan is here to make that journey easier. This 24/7, free, confidential service connects individuals with critical resources, from mental health support and housing assistance to employment services and crisis intervention. Through phone, text, and online access, 211 removes the guesswork, offering a direct line to the help people need.

In addition to the general 211 services, specialized platforms address unique community needs. The Interpersonal Violence Site provides immediate access to emergency services, legal aid, and educational tools to support those affected by intimate partner violence. Re:CONNECT extends support to individuals who may be at risk of family or intimate partner violence, offering non-judgmental pathways to services that promote safer, healthier relationships. And Parent Central helps parents access early years resources, making support more accessible for families in underserved areas.

With these resources, 211 is a trusted lifeline, ensuring that everyone in Saskatchewan—from remote rural residents to urban families—can access the support they need to thrive.
