Can you relate to the following statements?

  • I want  to engage in the kind of work that has a positive impact on my community
  • I think I would benefit from a temporary change of scenery
  • I want to learn new skills and expand on those I have
  • I enjoy learning by doing
  • I believe I have a lot to offer and would like the opportunity to expand my horizons
  • I want to increase my value as an employee in a concrete and practical way

If any of these points speak to you, taking part in United Way Regina’s Loaned Representative Program (LRP) may be just what you need. We are looking for enthusiastic employees to take on this unique role to help us raise funds and make a difference in our community.

As a Loaned Representative (or LR), you would have the opportunity to nurture your inner philanthropist while learning new skills and increasing your value as an employee.

What is a “Loaned Representative”?

Loaned Representatives (Loaned Reps) will work in the Resource Development department of United Way Regina. This department is responsible for raising funds to support United Way Regina’s mission of addressing the root causes of complex issues in our community and investing in these areas to create a positive and life changing impact.

One way funds are raised is through annual workplace campaigns, where more than 200 local organizations fundraise on behalf of United Way Regina. Other forms of revenue may include, major gifts, corporate sponsorship and planned giving. The Loaned Rep program is a powerful professional development initiative that combines skill development and leadership training with community involvement. Participants of this program are directly linked to the fall fundraising efforts, and interact with workplace campaigns and the volunteers that lead them on a daily basis.

How Can Our Company Become Involved in the Loaned Rep Program?

Loaned Reps are sponsored by their employer to work at United Way Regina for a 16-week period. By sponsoring an employee to participate in this program you not only make a meaningful and measureable investment in the community but you also make an investment in your employee and your business.

Sponsor An Employee: A loaned employee’s salary and health benefits will continue to be paid by their employer. Day-to-day management is the responsibility of United Way Regina.

OR

Provide Financial Support: Sponsor the Loaned Representative Program with a gift of $15,000 which will provide United Way Regina the flexibility to hire an individual with specific skills to support our fundraising efforts.

“I know the experience will stay with me for a lifetime. Being a loaned representative has already had a tremendous impact on my career. It is a networking and personal development opportunity second-to-none.You will sharpen your skills in relationship management, accounting and public speaking. But above all that, you will find a newfound connection to your community. This role helped me step out of my bubble and made me aware of the poverty, hunger and education inequality that affects our neighbours. If you are someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and builds strong relationships (and also enjoys a good potluck), then I cannot recommend the Loaned Representative role enough. You won’t forget it.”
